On Friday 2 October we held a coffee morning at the Toppers salon, where we sold cakes made by the team, and held a raffle. Many of the raffle prizes were donated by local shops near to Toppers (thank you to all of them). Thank you to all of our clients who were in that day for taking part, and also to many of our regulars who popped in to contribute.
On Sunday 18 October our second fundraising effort was a tandem parachute jump by Zoe and Louise, at the North London Parachute Centre, Chatteris Airfield, March.
"We were there at five to eight in the morning, and didn't get jump until the evening," said Zoe, "but when we did jump, the sky was really clear and the sun was just setting so it was really nice".
Zoe jumped first – she described her thoughts as she sat in the doorway: "when you're on the ground and you look up, you don't realise how high the plane is. But I looked down and it was like, Whoa!"
Louise was next to go – "when I saw Zoe go, I then sat on the edge of the door and thought, 'what on earth am I doing?' ... and then we left the aeroplane and it felt great."
Altogether, the coffee morning and sponsored jumps raised over £2,000 for breast cancer.
